Broken hearth
Once sharing light and warmth, now standing stony, empty and cold.
Imagine that this was once the center of a household. The place where meals were cooked, stories were told, clothes were hung to dry when it was cold and wet outside. Books read, and clothes sewn after the sun had gone down. Chance are, the stones that made the chimney were ones that were found nearby, and they were placed where they are now one hundred, maybe even two hundred, years ago. And the person who stacked and mortared them togehter lived there along with their family.
