Living on the edge
The snow is gradually melting away on the baseball field where the dogs play. The snow melts a little during the day and what's left freezes overnight, making it look more like ice granules then powdery snow and leaving little patches of grass dotting the field. I think the heat from the gound during the day also melts some of the snow away underneath which leave a little space between the grass underneath and the under surface of the snow/ice above it.
I was trying to get a picture of that space between, but the location of the camera lens on my phone and the dogs jumping around me (they thought I was getting down on the ground to play) worked against me. However, when I looked at the pictures later this one struck me for some reason. Instead of the space, the camera was facing the edge of the snow, close up it looked like a wall of ice, or a giant wave of ice crystals, a t-snow-nami, about to overwhelm the grass.
Every day when I walk around the baseball park playing with the dogs, little scenes like this one, thousands of them, are passed over without any notice from me.
